About Hunting for Heros Louisiana
Hunting for Heros Louisiana is a nonprofit organization based in Mamou, Louisiana, helping veterans reconnect with life, purpose, community, and hope through hunting, fishing, fellowship, mentorship, and shared outdoor experiences.
We believe the hunting trip is not the mission. The mission is what happens when a veteran who has been isolated sits beside someone who understands, shares a meal, tells a story, laughs again, and realizes they are not alone.
Our work serves Vietnam Veterans, Gulf War Veterans, OIF and OEF Veterans, Post-9/11 Veterans, disabled veterans, veterans living with PTSD or Parkinson's Disease, veterans struggling with depression, and veterans searching for purpose after military service.
On our Louisiana outdoor property, veterans are welcomed into no-cost hunting and fishing experiences designed to remove barriers and build trust. Gear, guidance, meals, and support are part of the experience, but the deeper goal is brotherhood.
The hunt gets them there. The brotherhood keeps them going.
Our 100-acre property in Mamou is more than a place to hunt and fish. It is a place where veterans can step away from isolation, share time with people who understand, and begin building connection again.
Every part of the experience is designed to remove barriers: equipment, guidance, meals, outdoor access, and a welcoming environment where veterans can participate at their own pace.
